Doris Wall BIO
During her last term, Doris Wall established and has been teaching at the Paramakatoi Extension of Wesleyan Bible College, (in the Interior of Guyana). She saw the first class graduate in December 2002. A new classroom/dormitory building was built and a school farm planted.
Her goal is to see the school function under national leadership and serve the three tribes in the area providing pastors, evangelists, and lay workers to plant churches and build believers. She returns to Guyana to be a bridge to a local principal.
Doris previously served in Guyana from 1967-1987 as a nurse/midwife and linguist among the Patamuna and Akawaio Amerindian groups. From 1995 she has taught at the Wesleyan Bible College in Georgetown and later in the interior.
Doris was born in Casey County, Kentucky, and reared in Cincinnati, Ohio. She received her R.N. from The Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati. She has a B.A. in anthropology from Eastern Kentucky University and an M.A. in missions and evangelism from Asbury Theological Seminary. Doris felt the call to missions from childhood.
Luke 4:18-19 is Doris' blue print for ministry, combining the proclamation of the gospel with compassionate service. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
